Fuzzy interface, the alternative to semantic
Web
How to access a pertinent piece of information
when millions of web pages contain the answers that are being
sought?
The semantic Web is the answer proposed by W3C (1)
and is also developed by Inria (2) in France. One can define
it as a formalized and structured Web version based on new languages
and on a new infrastructure. The intention, in particular, is
to incorporate all knowledge and resources in a standardized ontology
using, for instance, semantic markers.
RU3 project authors estimate that the subjective and unstable
characteristic of semantic fields and the information source heterogeneity
make utopian any attempt to normalize and globally integrate knowledge.
The proposed approach is based upon the logic of idea association
of the users. The fuzzy interface (3) of the RU3
project is not concerned by information itself, but by the interaction
information between users and information.
